Finally finished the book A Man called Ove by Fredrik Backman. This is a famous book. I read lot of reviews that its very funny. I saw lot of YouTube videos that its cute comedy. Chatgpt and Perplexity also recommended this book
But.......this is not my kind of book. I watched the trailer of the movie made on this book: The old man called Otto. Tom Hanks was cute old man. I liked the trailer. But the book didnt appeal to me.
Ove was irritatingly annoying. I got tired of waiting (Chapter 35) for this transformation. I would not like to be friends with such an annoying person. His constant grumpiness, negativity and depression would leave me emotionally drained.
I understand that the story is about grief, loneliness, kindness and finding reasons to live again. But understanding the message doesn't necessarily make the reading experience enjoyable.
For me, the journey was simply too exhausting to appreciate the destination.
My Rating: 2/5 ⭐⭐
